Latin Translation?

Does anyone here know any latin? I'm in Latin II and just needed a little help translating sentances, it's almost impossible to find a good latin to english translator, and I left my book in school. Can anyone help me?

Heres an example:

Miles est clarus. I don't know what miles means?

Piratae magnam copiam pecunia habuerunt.Latin Translation?
Miles est clarus: The soldier is famous.

Piratae magnam copiam pecunia habuerunt:

The pirates had (kept, maintained...) a great wealth in (with respect to, through...) money.

For future reference, when you don't have your textbook you may want to look up the textbook online. Many Latin textbooks have their own websites with helpful resources for each chapter.Latin Translation?
There are alot of places online that will translate word for word what you are looking for. I'd try a google search for 'Latin to english translations' and type these into the site. Worst comes to worst, you can at the very least find sites that will give you the translation of each word, and you can put the sentence together yourself. Good luck!Latin Translation?
miles-itis m. soldier

The soldier is famous.

The pirates possessed great resources with (their) money.

The link below will take you to an online site that will give you individual definitions (and statistics on frequency of use etc) taken from the most comprehensive dictionaries of Latin.
