I am considering getting a tattoo in latin of this quote from Horace, but am not a latin scholar by any means. I was just curious of the accuracy of the translation. the quote is "remember when life's path is steep to keep your mind even." I googled it and I came upon a website with the translation "Aequam memento rebus in arduis servare mentem." any help is much appreciated. Is this the correct english to latin translation of this latin quote from Horace?
That translation is often given for that quote from Horace. It has been embellished a bit from the actual wording. There's nothing about 'life's path' in the Latin.
Other translations which are more true to the actual Latin wording are:
Remember to keep a level head in difficult times
Remember to keep a calm mind in difficulties. Is this the correct english to latin translation of this latin quote from Horace?
Yes it is...
Aequam memento rebus in arduis servare mentem - Remember when life's path is steep to keep your mind even. (Horace)
