I am a swimmer and I want to get a tattoo in Latin script something to do with swimming...something like "live to swim" or "at one with the water" or something like that. any ideas/translations from people would be much appreciated!English to Latin translation? I want to get a tattoo in latin script?
"live to swim"
There is more than one way to get this but I like the gerund of purpose:
vive ad natandum
"at one with the water"
This is a little more tricky because of "at one." "at one" would be better translated with the Latin word for harmony.
in concordia c-um aqua
(the dash is there because that word is filtered without it)
Literally: in harmony with the water.
If you live in a city with a larger university I would find a professor of Latin. You can use online translators or trust these guys here, but you NEVER KNOW for sure who you're dealing with and the online translators often get context wrong...
The guy who's name is on the door of the university is probably right and probably who he says he is.English to Latin translation? I want to get a tattoo in latin script?
getting latin translations are usually quite difficult,
there are often mis-translated tattoo's, and you need to live with it for your whole life.
i advise you find someone who knowns latin extremely well, because if translators are used, it could often turn out to say something you dont want it to.
good luck
